The highest racecourse in Europe
Nestled at an altitude of 950 metres, in the heart of a large Laricio pine forest, Viseo holds the title of the highest racecourse in Europe. It hosts several race meetings featuring both flat racing and trotting. The atmosphere is lively, authentic and very friendly, with the possibility of enjoying a meal on site, often in the shade of the trees.
Viseo Racecourse opens its doors for 1 meeting in June, 2 meetings in July and 2 in August. Each meeting features 5 flat races and 2 trotting races. The first race starts at 2:00 pm.
The racecourse opens from 11:00 am. A refreshment stand is available throughout the day, with the possibility of getting something to eat (sandwiches, frappi, etc.) if you would like to have a picnic.
There are two ways to access the racecourse. From Zonza, take the road towards Bavella. The first entrance is the main entrance, 4 km away on your right. Parking is available and the entrance opens from 1:00 pm.
The second entrance is 500 metres further on. This is the owners’ entrance, with parking available for the public.
Flat rate: €5. Free for children under 12.
