Autumn in Corsica: another way to discover Porto-Vecchio
When summer comes to an end, Corsica gradually slows down. In Porto-Vecchio, temperatures become more pleasant, the beaches become quieter and the landscapes take on new colours. Autumn is a wonderful time to discover the far south of Corsica in a different way, between the sea, mountains, heritage and gastronomy.
Enjoying Porto-Vecchio in a different way
In September and October, Porto-Vecchio’s famous beaches such as Palombaggia, Santa Giulia, Pinarello and San Ciprianu are much quieter. It is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the coastline, take a walk along the beach or simply take the time to admire the scenery.
The historic centre of Porto-Vecchio can also be explored at a more leisurely pace. A stroll through the narrow streets of the citadel offers the chance to discover the town’s heritage and history.
Autumn: the perfect season for hiking
With milder temperatures, autumn is an especially pleasant time to explore the many hiking trails.
The Ospedale Forest, Alta Rocca, Piscia di Ghjaddu and Punta di a Vacca Morta offer wonderful opportunities for hikes and walks. It is also a great time to discover the villages inland and experience a more authentic side of Corsica. The Tourist Office particularly highlights the Mare a Mare Sud, a long-distance trail crossing Corsica between Porto-Vecchio and Propriano through the mountains of Alta Rocca.
Porto-Vecchio is still full of life in autumn
Autumn does not mean the end of events in Porto-Vecchio. Quite the opposite!
From 2 September to 7 October 2026, Portivechju in Musica will offer six free concerts on Place de la République, featuring Corsican groups and artists. A great opportunity to discover Corsican music in a friendly atmosphere in the heart of the old town.

Cinema enthusiasts can also enjoy the Reprise de la Semaine de la Critique, taking place from 29 September to 4 October 2026, with screenings, meetings and workshops dedicated to cinema.
For sports enthusiasts, the Portivechju Half Marathon will take place on 18 October 2026, while the U Spidali Trail is scheduled for 29 November.
