Must-Visit Wine Estates Around Porto-Vecchio

During your stay in Porto-Vecchio, you can discover some of the region’s finest wines just a few minutes from Hôtel San Giovanni. Here are three must-visit wine estates.

1. Domaine de Granajolo

Nestled in an unspoiled natural setting, Domaine de Granajolo is a true benchmark of the AOC Corse Porto-Vecchio appellation. A pioneer in sustainable viticulture, the estate has been certified organic since the early 2000s. Here, respect for the land and the vines is not a marketing slogan—it is a way of life.

The vineyard flourishes on sun-drenched granite hillsides, providing ideal conditions for indigenous Corsican grape varieties. The white wines are renowned for their freshness and minerality, while the reds are structured and generous, revealing delicate aromas of red berries and Corsican maquis spices. Visitors are welcomed with genuine Corsican hospitality in the tasting cellar.

2. Domaine de Torraccia

No introduction to the wines of Porto-Vecchio would be complete without the legendary Domaine de Torraccia, located in the neighboring village of Lecci. Founded in the 1960s by Christian Imbert, a passionate advocate of traditional Corsican grape varieties such as Niellucciu, Sciaccarellu and Vermentinu, the estate played a key role in the creation of the AOC Corse Porto-Vecchio appellation.

The organically cultivated vines grow on granite soils overlooking the Mediterranean, producing age-worthy wines with remarkable character. The estate’s iconic “Oriu” cuvée (“refuge” in Corsican) is an absolute must-try. A visit to the winery, with its breathtaking panoramic views over the bay, is both a journey through Corsican history and an unforgettable experience.

3. Domaine de Zuria – The Spectacular Revival of Bonifacio’s Vineyard

A little further south, on the limestone soils of Bonifacio, Domaine de Zuria is the result of an inspiring family adventure. Recently established by a passionate family, the estate has successfully revived viticulture in Bonifacio, restoring a tradition that had disappeared for more than a century.

The terroir is truly unique: windswept vineyards draw their character from the region’s white limestone soils. The resulting wines are remarkably elegant. The whites display outstanding freshness, tension and saline notes, while the reds are refined and beautifully balanced. The contemporary tasting room, perfectly integrated into the surrounding landscape, is well worth the visit.

From the Vineyard to the Table at L’Impatiens Restaurant

At Hôtel San Giovanni, we are proud to showcase these passionate winegrowers. As Master Sommelier Raphaël Pierre Bianchetti recently highlighted during his visit to our hotel, the wine list at L’Impatiens restaurant has been carefully designed to promote local producers and distinctive Corsican appellations.

After a day exploring the vineyards, why not continue the experience at our restaurant? A bottle from Torraccia, Granajolo or Zuria will pair beautifully with our refined bistronomic cuisine and provide the perfect ending to your evening.
